Perhaps one reason men shy away from becoming at-home dads is the fact that the job entails a good deal of intimacy...well, if you want to do it right that is. Sarah and I share lots of close moments--touching, feeding, singing, rocking, sleeping. In fact, after the necessities of food and shelter, intimacy shapes their world.
She smiles when I smile. She holds my pinky finger when feeding. She talks to me with bubbles frothing out her mouth, and we have a conversation. Just the two of us. We share ourselves.
I look into her eyes, and my heart melts 'cause there is no ability for falsehood there. We only share honesty, the intimacy between dad and daughter that makes what I do so much more fulfilling.
